We gave questionnaires to our pupils to find out what they know about our partners at the start of this project.
These are the results from the UK where 24 students answered
Sadly very little was known about Romania, our pupils were more aware of Turkey as we have the flag flying at school from our last project and some have had holidays there. There seemed to be more general knowledge about Italy as there is an abundance of Italian restaurants nearby and the pupils look at the Roman Empire in Year 7 plus we have Roman archaeological sites nearby. Some pupils have Polish friends but don't know much more about the country.
Hopefully all this will change within the next couple of years :-)
